happiness is sleep - i am a coding monkey

I am at that stage where I'm working harder and harder to make up for how tired I am from working so hard, and the work just keeps getting harder to do.

I need a monkey.

Maybe a banana.

I'm not sure that I'm getting anywhere, as I am working around a major new implmentation and trying to glue things together.. ant scripts, shell scripts, automating cvs backups, checkouts, directory server migrations and the fun part; the mbean server engine that I want to be able to do everything the client might possibly imagine; utilizing spring beans, standard DAOs with c3p0 connection pooling plus hibernate.

Hooking it all together into someone else's server framework is the bitch - why didn't they use spring? I'll stabby stabby all of you if you don't start right now!

I took my first foray into using hibernate in a non-trivial fashion.. then I realized my dataset had no key.. none.. I thought about making a composite key out of the 6 fields it would take to find uniqueness..

Then I put a shot of kahlua in my coffee and went back to DAOs and standard JDBC.

Temporarily beaten, but not defeated.
